Pantryfox Terms of Service

Last updated: October 21, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Saahil Padwal (operating as Pantryfox) ("Pantryfox", "we", "us") about your use of the Pantryfox app and related services. By creating an account or using Pantryfox you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Pantryfox.

1. Who can use Pantryfox

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use Pantryfox. If you are under 18, you may use Pantryfox only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms for you. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it.

One account per person, and do not share your sign-in details. You must give accurate information and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us at pantryfoxapp@gmail.com if you think someone else has access to it.

2. Pantryfox is an aid, not a guarantee

Allergies, diets and nutrition: please read this. This is the most important part of these Terms. Pantryfox screens recipes and ingredients against the allergies and diets you enter. The screening is automated, and it can be wrong in both directions: it can miss an allergen that is present, and it can remove a recipe that would have been fine for you. In particular:

Always read the ingredients on the actual food you are about to eat. Pantryfox is a discovery and planning tool. It is not a medical device, not a nutrition or dietary advice service, and not a substitute for a doctor, an allergist, or a registered dietitian. If you have a food allergy or a medical condition affected by diet, never use Pantryfox as your only check. You are responsible for what you and the people you cook for eat.

Expiry dates. Expiry and storage suggestions are estimates. They are not a food safety guarantee. Use your judgement, and discard food that looks, smells, or tastes wrong.

AI-generated content. Recipes, swaps, nutrition figures, savings and waste estimates, and images are produced or estimated by automated systems and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for you.

3. Your account and your content

Your content includes your pantry, lists, recipes, cookbooks, photos you scan, reviews, and anything else you put into Pantryfox. You keep ownership of it. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, process, copy, and display it only to operate and improve Pantryfox for you, including sending it to the service providers described in the Privacy Policy, and to show it to the people you choose to share it with. We do not sell your content, and we do not use your photos to train any model.

You promise you have the right to the content you add and that it does not break the law or anyone's rights. Only scan receipts and photos you are entitled to use. Do not upload photos of other people.

Photo scanning. When you scan a receipt or your fridge, the image is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google), which reads the visible items and sends back a list. The whole picture is sent, not just the food, so crop out or cover anything you do not want processed, such as your name or card digits on a receipt. Do not photograph people, documents, screens, or anything else that is not food or a receipt. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to the image. Scans are limited each month depending on your plan, and we may change the limits.

Sharing. If you share a cookbook with friends, or create a share link, others can see it as described in the app. A share link can be opened by anyone who has it, until you revoke it. We cannot take back a copy someone already made. Households share one pantry, grocery list and budget; the household owner can remove members.

4. Using Pantryfox fairly

You agree not to:

Reporting and removal. You can report any recipe, cookbook or person from inside the app, and block anyone from the Friends screen. We review every report, usually within 24 hours, and we remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, without notice where the harm is serious. We do not have to monitor content, and we are not liable for what other people share.

Limits. AI features (scans, recipe requests, and images) have monthly and hourly limits that depend on your plan, shown in the app. We may change limits, and we may pause AI features at any time, for example to control costs or during an outage.

5. Plans and payment

Pantryfox is free to use, with monthly limits on the AI features (see section 4). Paid plans are available to customers in the United States. A paid plan is a recurring subscription: unless you cancel, it renews automatically each month and your payment method is charged again at the then-current price.

6. Third-party services

Pantryfox depends on other services, including AI providers, a product database (Open Food Facts), and Apple and Google. They are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content or availability, and their terms apply when you use them. Product details come from Open Food Facts, a community database made available under the Open Database License. Nutrition values come from USDA FoodData Central, a US government dataset. The recipes and pictures Pantryfox makes for you are generated by AI.

7. Our property

Pantryfox, including its software, design, name, and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices under these Terms. Recipes and images generated for you may resemble ones generated for other users, and we make no claim that they are unique.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Pantryfox and delete your account at any time from the You tab in the app, then Delete account or by emailing pantryfoxapp@gmail.com. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Pantryfox. If we end your account for another reason, we will try to give you notice. Deleting your account removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

Pantryfox is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we disclaim all implied warranties. In particular, we do not promise that allergen screening, ingredient identification, or nutrition estimates are accurate or complete.

We may change Pantryfox, take features away, or shut it down. If we shut it down entirely, we will email notice first where we can. There is no guarantee that Pantryfox will be available, correct, or free of bugs.

10. Limits of our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Pantryfox. This includes harm from food you prepare or eat, including allergic reactions or illness. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the last 12 months or US $50. Some places do not allow these exclusions or limits, in particular for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for liability that cannot be limited by law. Where that applies to you, the limits apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing in these Terms takes away a right you have that cannot be given up.

11. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a third party brings a claim against us because you broke these Terms or the law, or because of content you added. This does not apply where the law does not allow it.

12. Disputes and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the state and federal courts located in California, except where your local law gives you the right to go to court where you live.

Before filing a claim, email pantryfoxapp@gmail.com and give us thirty days to try to sort it out. Most things get fixed that way. This does not stop you going to court where the law says you can.

13. Apple App Store terms

If you got Pantryfox from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Pantryfox. If Pantryfox fails to meet a warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if any; beyond that Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for claims about Pantryfox, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property infringement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You must follow the terms of any third-party agreements that apply when you use Pantryfox, such as your wireless provider's. You confirm you are not in a country under a US embargo or on a US list of restricted parties.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will email the address on your account at least fourteen days before it takes effect, and we will update the date above. If you keep using Pantryfox after that, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Pantryfox and delete your account.

15. The rest

If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing something once does not mean we have given it up. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Pantryfox.
